What are dental bridges?

What are dental bridges?

Patients choose to have root canals when they wish to save a tooth that would otherwise have to be removed. Most patients believe that extracting the tooth is the best idea. However, pulling a tooth is costly and leaves a space that may cause problems for other adjacent teeth. The removed tooth should be replaced by dental implants, which is also costly.

When a patient has gaps in their smile due to missing teeth, this can not only impact their self-esteem, it can also affect their bite and can cause movement of your remaining teeth. This is one of the reasons why it’s important to fill the gaps with either a dental implant or a bridge. Dental implants are the best method as they promote the re-growth of bone around the implant. However if a patient does not want to go this route for dental implants then a dental bridge is a proven and time-tested method of filling gaps in a patients smile.

  • Restore your smile.
  • Restore the ability to properly chew and speak.

How  are dental bridges placed?

Dr Normatov will firstly prepare your teeth and will then fit your dental bridge in two or three separate visits to the dental office. At your first visit, Dr Normatov will shape and size the teeth that will be used to anchor the bridge so that there will be enough space to fit the device, depending on what type of bridge Dr Norman is placing. She will then make an impression of your teeth which will guide her in the process of making the bridge. When you return to the dental office for your last visit visit the new bridge will be placed into your mouth and adjusted in place.

What to expect with a new bridge?
