invisalign dentist INVISALIGN® is the most popular method of straightening teeth for adults and teens because it is effective, comfortable, and discreet. INVISALIGN® is a series of clear aligners that gradually shift your teeth into an ideal position. You wear each set of aligners for two weeks or less, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. With every aligner that you wear, your teeth will move a little closer to your perfect smile. During the middle of your treatment, you can switch to new aligners on your own at home, and then you’ll visit us about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case. Over half a million Americans have taken advantage of Invisalign. The system can fix problems such as overly crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, cross bite, overbite and under bite. Taking advantage of Invisalign braces can also help prevent serious dental concerns such as tooth decay and periodontal disease.

Dental Implants in Forest Hills

Learn about the benefits of dental implants and how you can restore your smile.

IF YOU FEEL that your smile due to missing teeth and feel embarrassed when you smile then there is a simple solution that outweights the benefits of dentures or dental bridges. It is important that patient first understand what happens when they lose their teeth.

When a patient is missing teeth or they have  not been replaced it can cause a number of problems. Initially the underlying tooth loss will create a large space that will cause neighboring teeth to fill in the gap. This can cause teeth to become out of balance. When this process happens teeth begin to extrude out of their sockets and it is possible that you can create spaces. This can lead to and therefore can eventually lead to periodontal disease and therefore dental implants are a very successful way of improving patients overall smiles. By replacing your missing teeth with dental implants patients can retain their smile and achieve optimal dental health.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

  • Dental implants can in some cases be placed immediately after the removal of a tooth, but normally some time will be left before an implant will be placed after the removal of a tooth.
  • They can can improve your appearance your smile and your self-esteem.
  • They are comfortable and improve conversation, well being and overall dental health.
  • They are the closest thing to real teeth and prevent bone loss in the jawbone.
  • They brighten your smile by replacing missing teeth and gaps.
  • Dental implants are better than traditional bridges which can grind down the teeth overtime and damage your gums.
  • They can enhance the overall quality of your life and improve eating habits immediately
  • They eliminate the need for toxic adhesives used to hold dentures
  • Dental implants eliminate unsightly metal clasps seeing on dental partials for partial dentures
  • With the proper care and attention will never need to be removed again.

What does dental implant surgery consist of?

dental implant queensDental implant surgery is performed by either an oral surgeon or a dentist with the Diplomate in Implantology. Dr Normatov has attained the Implantology Diplomate from NYU which means that that she has undergone special training in the process of implants and understands the full biological, physiological and dental implant treatment process. Initially Dr. Normatov will surgically place an dental implant composed of a titanium post into into the patients jawbone. This is performed by initially removing some of the gum tissue and exposing the bone. Sophisticated dental software is used in order to strategically place the dental implant in the space. The exposed area is then covered once the implant is placed and the process of osseo-integration takes place. Dr Normatov then will schedule another appointment in 3 to 6 months after the post has become fused with the patients jaw. This process this is known as osseointegration and takes place over a number of month whereby the titanium post will become fixed to the jawbone. When the patients returns to see if the process of osseointegration has been successfull, Dr. Normatov will remove some of the gum tissue in order to see if the titanium post has fused with the jaw bone. In most cases this will have been enough time for the patients titanium post to fuse to the bone. In many cases crown can then be affixed to the titanium post known as the abutment.

We also have the ability to give the patient a bridge using dental implants. This bridge is a restorative bridge used to replace many missing teeth. There are two types: fixed partial dentures and removable partial dentures. Fixed bridges are cemented in and cannot be removed. Partial dentures can be removed at night for cleaning. The bridges can drastically improve a patients smile with the materials that are used are made to match the color of your teeth.

With dental implants, the procedure is performed at our Forest Hills  office and patients must commit to a healthy oral regimen afterwards. They normally have a healing phase of 6 weeks to 3 months before the crown is placed over the titanium abutment.
